Openings: The Inn at the Pier in Pismo Beach, Calif.

Within walking distance of the beach
and boardwalk, the Inn at the Pier in Pismo Beach, Calif., conveys a classic California beach experience with an elegant twist. Reminiscent of a contemporary beach house, the location and aesthetic allow a comforting sense of relaxation.

Neutral touches like driftwood combined with beachy blue and yellow accents give the rooms—which offer either a private patio or balcony with views of the Pacific Ocean—the feeling of a luxury beach getaway. Rooms also display vintage and original surf photography. Indoor/outdoor restaurant Blonde serves modern beach fare made from local ingredients.

The rooftop poolside lounge offers sharable bites instead of full entrées, with craft beers and wine, Sunday brunches, and nighttime entertainment. Inn at the Pier has a heated pool and sundeck, as well as beach cruiser bicycle rentals to travel down the sand connecting to the hotel. Entertainment can be found at nearby boutiques, surf shops, and the Paso Robes wine country.

The 104-room property, which officially opened last November, is owned by Somera Capital Management and managed by Pacifica Hotels.
