Utica Shale Boom Spurs Hotel Development in Ohio

    Guernsey County, Ohio, is getting four new hotels to meet the influx of Utica shale workers. According to this article from the Columbus Biz Insider, a 71-room Sleep Inn and Suites just opened in a town of 10,555 residents in eastern Ohio, and three more hotels are on the way as the Utica shale play continues spurring economic development. The Sleep Inn is the first new hotel built in Guernsey County seat since the oil and gas boom began, the article states. Together, the four hotels will add 327 rooms in the county for a total of 1,100 rooms.
