On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Small Luxury Hotels of the World has announced a new chief executive officer. Filip Boyen, managing director of Hill, Goodridge & Associates, will also manage the SHL brand. He has a 30-year history with the hospitality and hotel management sector, beginning at Commis & Chef de Partie in his native Belguim. He most recently was chief operating officer at Belmond for six years.

Here is a look at more exciting career announcements that took place this week:

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa has appointed Angela Vaughn the resort’s director of marketing. Carrying more than 12 years of experience in marketing, public relations and advertising, she most recently worked as a community and public relations coordinator for Visit South Walton in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, N.Y., has named hospitality sales industry veteran Jeannine Graham director of sales. She has worked with multiple luxury properties and hospitality groups in the sales and entertainment sectors, most recently at Denihan Hospitality Group.

Debra Klemm has joined the Langford Hotel in Miami, Fla., as director of sales and marketing. She previously owned her own hospitality company, called DLK Hospitality and Consulting.

Sonesta has appointed Mark Quintero to the position of director of operations. With nearly 30 years in the industry under his belt, he has spent the majority of his career working for Marriott International, where he most recently served as regional director of operations for holiday retirement.

San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino has named Jose Gonzalez the new general manager. Gonzalez started his Marriott career in 2002 as general manager at Marriott Hotel Puebla, Mexico. He most recently served as general manager at JW Marriott Caracas and as country manager for Venezuela.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has appointed Jessica Stephens director of sales and marketing for Crowne Plaza Minneapolis Northstar Downtown and Riana van Staden director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington in Bloomington, Minn. Stephens recently served as assistant director of sales for Millennium Hotel Minneapolis, and van Staden previously worked at Minneapolis Marriott Southwest as assistant director and senior sales manager.

Simon Mais has been named managing director of Loews Regency New York Hotel. He spent the last five years at Northwood Hospitality Group, where he most recently served as vice president of asset management.

Denihan has appointed Carl L. Cohen to the newly-created position of chief experience officer. He joins the company from MGM Resorts International, where he was CMO/VP Marketing City Center: Aria Resort & Casino, Vdara Hotel & Spa, and The Shops at Crystals.

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach has made two additions to its sales team. Thu Le Dong and Thomas Fitzgerald will each take on the role of group sales manager. Dong previously served as a realtor at Keller Williams Tampa Properties, and Fitzgerald most recently served as national sales manager at La Playa Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, Fla.
