Marriott Reveals StudioRes As New Name For Extended-Stay Brand

A couple of months after launching its new lower-midscale extended-stay brand concept, Marriott International has revealed that it will be known as StudioRes.

Previously referred to as Project MidX Studios, the company debuted the new concept to media during the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. StudioRes is geared for customers who want smart, functional design at an affordable price, and for hotel owners seeking an efficient cost to build and low-cost operating model reflective of the current economic environment, according to the company.

The new brand joins the company’s other extended-stay offerings, which include Residence Inn by Marriott, Element by Westin, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.

At the time of the launch, Anthony Capuano, Marriott International president and CEO, commented on the new flag.

“Marriott has long believed in having the right accommodations in compelling destinations at the right price point. Whether our guests are traveling for business, leisure or a mix of both, our portfolio of 31 brands offers something for everyone. As consumers look for new, flexible accommodation solutions, we are thrilled to announce our plans to launch an affordable midscale extended stay offering to meet the needs of guests seeking long-term comforts at a moderate price point,” he said.
