Disruptive Restaurant Group Partners with Denihan

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Disruptive Restaurant Group, a subsidiary of sbe, the Los Angeles-based leading lifestyle hospitality company, today announced its first partnership with Denihan Hospitality Group to develop and manage the food & beverage concepts appearing at The James West Hollywood–Sunset. The highly-anticipated hotel is scheduled to open in January 2017.

Located on the famed corner of Sunset and La Cienega, The James will be Los Angeles’ newest hotel and the first ground-up project in West Hollywood in approximately 30 years. The property will feature the 286-room hotel and will also boast a luxurious pool and 10,000-square-feet of flexible event space, which will include a ballroom, event facilities, and meeting spaces. Disruptive Restaurant Group will cultivate and manage the hotel’s restaurants and bars, while Denihan Hospitality Group will operate the hotel under The James Hotel brand.

“We recently launched Disruptive Restaurant Group and it is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after F&B partners for the hospitality industry,” said Sam Nazarian, sbe founder and CEO. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with The James West Hollywood and look forward to using our seasoned expertise to create a modern unique concept that will resonate with the new boutique lifestyle hotel.”

Disruptive Restaurant Group tapped James Beard Award-winning chef and one of Miami’s most well-known restaurateurs, Michael Schwartz, of restaurants including his flagship Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, to open the second outpost of his new Italian concept Fi’lia. Co-owner and cocktail visionary behind L.A. cocktail scene mainstay, Melrose Umbrella Co., Zachary Patterson, will be engaged as the mixology partner for the bars.

“We are honored to partner with respected culinary mavericks such as Chef Michael Schwartz and Zachary Patterson of Melrose Umbrella Co.,” said John Kolaski, president of Disruptive Restaurant Group. “The James will be an exciting addition to West Hollywood and we aim to create sought-after dining and entertainment destinations for both locals and visiting guests.”

On the heels of opening a first location at the new SLS Hotel in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, Fi’lia will showcase Schwartz’s fresh approach to Italian food, with handmade breads and pasta, and an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. Schwartz’s first West Coast restaurant represents a return to the place that inspired his career early on and shaped the simple approach to food for which he is known.

The lobby bar concept at The James West Hollywood will be an elevated educational and friendly social cocktail experience mingled with a fun and unique approach to entertaining.

Also to debut is an elevated grab-and-go marketplace with artisanal wines and cheese, fresh salads, and sandwiches, and gourmet coffees and teas. The marketplace will be integrated into the hotel lobby and offer a café environment.
