On the Move: This Week’s Comings & Goings

Carlson Hotels CEO David Berg is leaving the company and will be replaced by Federico González Tejera, the former CEO of NH Hotel Group, effective Feb. 1. Berg has served as CEO since May 2015.

Here’s a look at other notable comings and goings that took place this week:

Twenty Four Seven Hotels has appointed Gary Gray as chief investment officer. Gray will oversee portfolio growth strategies across acquisitions, development, and hotel management opportunities for the company. The appointment of Gray furthers the company’s plan to continue to expand across the western United States.

Choice Hotels International appointed Brian Quinn as vice president of franchise development. In his new role, Quinn will be responsible for leading franchise development in the U.S. for several Choice brands including: Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, and Suburban Extended Stay.

Benchmark has named Antonio Estremera as executive chef for The Grove Resort & Spa, an expansive 106-acre hotel destination in Orlando, Fla. The resort will open its first phase on March 10. The 878 room, all-suite hotel will feature multiple food and drink venues, including a three meal-a-day restaurant, two poolside eateries, two lounges, and a large-scale grab-and-go style marketplace.

Outrigger Enterprises Group has appointed Czarina Lam, Karen Codilla, and Jim Utsugi to its revenue and sales team. Codilla has been appointed as corporate director of pricing, revenue systems, and distribution. Lam has been appointed to director of revenue management for OHANA Waikiki East by Outrigger, OHANA Waikiki Malia by Outrigger, and Holiday Inn Resort Waikiki Beachcomber. Utsugi has been appointed to senior sales manager groups and sports to develop sales strategies and plans to enhance the group market including sports, events, University of Hawaii sports, Outrigger-sponsored events and meeting and leisure groups.

Broadvine, which delivers business intelligence and analytics software to the hospitality industry, has appointed Shawn Barber as CEO. Barber brings more than 20 years of experience driving business transformation in global technology markets, serving in various executive and senior positions within product development and business operations.

Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, Nobu’s first European hotel, has appointed Gigi Vega as regional director and general manager. Vega will oversee all of the operations at the new 150-room hotel, opening in spring 2017, including the 240-seat restaurant and a forthcoming rooftop bar.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has appointed three new members to its sales team at Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District. Megan Gilligan has been named director of sales and marketing and Laurie Nielsen-Singer and Kristy Phalen have been named sales account executives. The Omaha Marriott Downtown is scheduled to open in summer 2017.

Sonesta ES Suites Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport in Eagan, Minn., has appointed Nicole Robinson as general manager. In this role, Robinson will be tasked with overseeing the daily operational activities of the property and its staff.

Omaha Marriott Downtown, NE has appointed Megan Gilligan to director of sales and marketing. Gilligan will oversee all sales efforts, marketing and public relations initiatives for the full-service hotel.

Fortuna Realty Group has tapped Lisa Grossberg as Chelsea area general manager for Hotels Hayden and Henri in Manhattan. Grossberg brings over 20 years of New York-area hospitality experience to her new role, with past positions including area general manger for Denihan Hospitality Group and general manager of the Buckingham Hotel.
