A Look at Austin’s Hotel Van Zandt

AUSTIN, Texas—Hotel Van Zandt, Austin’s first Kimpton property which recently opened its doors, just released photography to offer a look inside the new hotel designed for cultural tastemakers and world explorers.

Designer Mark Zeff and his team created both the hotel and Geraldine’s restaurant space—their first in Texas. The hotel’s focus on authenticity, local sourcing and the spirit of travel are apparent throughout its design, amenities and expert services. Hotel Van Zandt, situated in the city’s Rainey Street Historic District, recently opened in November.

Upon first entrance to the hotel, guests are greeted by horn-inspired chandeliers. A bright and spacious lobby welcomes guests in true Austin fashion—with modern, high-quality pieces mixed with edgy details such as hand-picked items from top local antique vendors. A complimentary hosted Social Hour will take place in the lobby from 5:00 -6:00 p.m. each evening with cold beer and margaritas. Café 605 is adjacent to the lobby and opened daily for treats like brisket and egg tacos and adult takes on childhood sweets. Guests are free to grab a custom-designed bicycle from the lobby for a leisurely ride through town, or on trails through the Colorado River Wildlife Sanctuary.

Playful notes of music-themed designs are scattered throughout the hotel. Music fills the air in each public room in the hotel, courtesy of Lauren Bucherie, the hotel’s director of music and social programming. Bucherie sets the vibe of each room with curated music that fits with not only the décor, but the time of day. Low lighting may ensue bluesy notes, while sunrise could spark a few mellow indie tunes. The living room provides a hidden common space for guests.

Calm blue and gray hues encase each guest room and suite, blended with brushed bronze and slightly worn wood. Thoughtfully curated local art adorn the walls of each room, providing a peek into another side of Austin. Each room will have a view; either the city itself or Lady Bird Lake. The first Austin hotel to offer a fiber internet connection, each room has complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth speakers. Guests will find a complimentary yoga mat in every room. All pets are welcome.

Hotel Van Zandt features 12,000 square feet of stylish event and meeting space, capable of accommodating up to 500 people.
