On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

On Nov. 5, Candace Mueller was named vice president of global communications for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. In this role, she will lead the company’s brand and corporate communications, as well as social engagement. She brings more than 20 years of experience to the position. Most recently, she worked as senior director of communications and community affairs for PepsiCo North America Nutrition.

Here is a look at more notable job moves that happened in hospitality this week:

Aqua-Aston Hospitality has named Janice Wakatsuki senior vice president of human resources. She brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, having most recently worked as the corporate director of human resources for Outrigger Enterprises.

Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, a Kimpton Hotel, has named Lee Hunter director of sales. Previously, he served as global director of sales with Commune Hotels & Resorts.

Brad Naucler has been appointed general manager of Kona Kai Resort & Spa on Shelter Island in San Diego. Prior to joining the property, he served as director of sales at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa.

Mainsail Lodging & Development has announced the hiring of Sandra Zinck as the new general manager for two Anna Maria Island properties–Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club and Mailsail Beach Inn. Zinck comes to Mainsail Lodging from D.P. Murphy Hotels & Resorts in Mocton, New Brunswick, where she worked for eight years.

Brian Waldman has been named senior vice president of investments for Peachtree Hotel Group. Before joining Peachtree, he was managing director and head of Capital Markets for Beacon Hospitality Partners.

Westin Atlanta Perimeter North hotel has named John Visconti director of sales and marketing and Okan Hazar director of food and beverage. Visconti joins the hotel from Wyndham Hotel Group, where he served as director of sales and marketing. Hazar previously worked as director of banquets for Sheraton Downtown Atlanta.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has announced leadership appointments in Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Las Vegas. Jim Waldvogel has been named managing director for the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel and Crowne Plaza Minneapolis Northstar Downtown. He previously worked as area vice president and general manager of the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Chris Zarek has been appointed general manager of the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown. Previously, he worked as general manager of the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel.

Mahesh Reddy has been named general manager of Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Reddy previously served as general manager of the Platinum Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas. And finally, Mary Orlando has been appointed general manager of the Platinum Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas. She most recently worked as general manager of the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown.

The Gettys Group has appointed Marcela Lombana its new senior project designer. She has worked extensively in high-profile hospitality and luxury residential projects mainly in South Florida and Latin American markets.

Hyatt Place Washington, D.C./Georgetown/West End has named Kevin Varr general manager and Catherine Rentschler director of sales. Varr comes from Aimbridge Hotels, where he was general manager for Hyatt Place D.C. Downtown/K Street. Rentschler joins the property from Park Hyatt Washington, D.C.
