SEATTLE—Destination Hotels & Resorts has announced its newest property, Motif Seattle. The hotel is located in downtown Seattle between Pike and Union streets, becoming the city’s largest independent hotel. With a new name and a revitalized brand, Motif Seattle boasts a fresh and memorable guest experience all inspired by Seattle’s progressive culture. The upscale hotel will officially be unveiled on June 14, 2014, and continue to be managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts.
“Motif is inspired by Seattle’s burgeoning fashion, music, and arts scenes,” said Shannon Sheron, general manager of Motif Seattle. “Motif Seattle draws upon the area’s rich history, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, and avant-garde taste in the arts to create a guest experience woven from the fabric of our unique city.”
Motif Seattle will work with local designers on an ongoing basis to create distinctive experiences throughout the hotel. The first such designer, Jordan Christianson of Jonquil & Mr Black, has created an exclusive pattern that is experienced throughout the hotel—from textiles to ties, letterhead, and amenities.
“As the region awakes from its long slumber, we are gifted with such a unique energy; color and shape, smells and sounds,” Christianson says. “When asked to create a custom pattern for Motif’s launch, knowing it would be summer, I wanted to capture this experience so travelers to our city would be able to take a slice of this secret home with them.”
Seattle-based architecture firm, Ankrom Moisan, was selected to manage the Motif Seattle design and architecture. This visionary team carefully impressed local flare into each corner of the property, including locally sourced wood paneling, native artwork, and digitally interactive spaces that entice and engage guests and locals alike. The Motif Seattle brand concept will be ever evolving with the colors and vibe of the seasons of Seattle.
To create this cosmopolitan hotel, Destination Hotels & Resorts embarked on a multi-year, multi-phase renovation. Features include a 10,000-square-foot executive conference level, a VIP executive boardroom, the opening of urban contemporary Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails, and the renovation of all 319 guestrooms, 10 suites (five executive, one presidential, four family), the grand lobby, and front entrance.
