Montage Announces Pendry Hotels Brand

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.- Montage Hotels & Resorts’ founder & CEO Alan Fuerstman has announced the launch of Pendry Hotels, a new brand that will marry Montage’s culture of service with a design-driven approach to hospitality. In launching Pendry Hotels, the company intends to significantly expand its portfolio of hotels and resorts, which today includes five Montage-branded properties in Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills; Deer Valley, Utah; Kapalua Bay, Maui, Hawaii; and Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina.

“When we discovered that the British surname Pendry embraces ‘Know Thyself’ as its family motto, we knew we had found a brand identification that speaks to the aspirational ethos of our customer . . . self-aware, confident, intellectually curious and engaged,” said Alan Fuerstman.

As co-founder and creative director of Pendry Hotels, Michael Fuerstman will spearhead the brand’s rollout, including the creation of the first Pendry property, Pendry San Diego, in addition to working on future Pendry Hotel developments. s.

“Pendry Hotels will fill a void between the lifestyle and luxury hotel spaces,” said Michael Fuerstman. “Design and service, a bit of heritage and modern sensibility, and never-ever overly trendy. Think: London hip, New York paced and California healthy. We’re incredibly excited to bring this vision of hospitality to life.”

Pendry San Diego, which broke ground on October 8, is located at the epicenter of the historic and energetic Gaslamp District. A few blocks from the home of the San Diego Padres, Petco Park, and the San Diego Convention Center, Pendry San Diego will be the an urban destination for leisure and business travelers alike.

Scheduled to open in 2016, Pendry San Diego will feature 317 guest rooms, including 36 suites, a rooftop pool, two restaurants, an ultra-lounge, a beer hall, a spa and energizing fitness facility, and over 22,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

The developers of Pendry San Diego are The Robert Green Company of Encinitas, California, and Montage Hotels & Resorts. The architect is Awbrey Cook Rogers McGill of San Diego. The general contractor is Davis Reed Construction, headquartered in Houston.
