LA JOLLA, California—A multi-million-dollar renovation was announced for Hotel La Jolla, Curio Collection by Hilton, a 50-year-old property. The project is slated for completion in November 2023 and includes a revamp of each of the property’s 110 guestrooms and suites, 1,600 square feet of meetings and events space, and the 11th floor’s Sea & Sky, which will be a penthouse-level restaurant replacing the hotel’s existing eatery Cusp Dining & Drinks. The property will remain open over the duration of construction, and multiple floors of newly redesigned guestrooms are completed and available.

The new look of the property imagined by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) draws inspiration from the layers of texture, shapes, and color palette that mimic the property’s coastal location. The spaces will nod to the landscape, including the use of neutral flooring and blue furnishings and artwork reflecting the area’s culture, scenery, and past. Guestrooms will include new textiles and wallcoverings, furnishings and bathrooms, and outdoor furniture.

The full-scale renovation includes the redesign of an 11th-floor restaurant. HBA is creating a modern space with a contemporary color palette and an updated design, a private dining area, an enclosed show kitchen, and an expanded bar. Sliding doors will replace the existing floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition to HBA, Hotel La Jolla owners are collaborating with Texas-based Taste & Theory restaurant group on a menu with fresh produce, fish, dairy, and meat sourced regionally from the American Pacific Coast and Baja Peninsula, as well as a drink menu with regional California and Valle de Guadalupe wines and cocktails.

Hotel La Jolla is owned by Kawa Capital Management and CL1 Hotels and operated by Evolution Hospitality
