Hotel Indigo Baltimore-Mt. Vernon Names Executive Team

GREENBELT, Md.—Chesapeake Hospitality has announced the hiring of the executive team for the Hotel Indigo Baltimore–Mt. Vernon, formerly the Mount Vernon Hotel. Kim Sims, president of Chesapeake Hospitality, made the announcement.

As construction continues on the 170-room hotel, which is scheduled to open during the second quarter of this year, Chesapeake Hospitality has named Jason Curtis as general manager, Noelle Moore as director of sales and Thomas Hamrick as food & beverage director. The $20 million investment in the property began in mid 2014 and is a top to bottom renovation that is impacting every aspect of the building — the lobby, restaurant, bar, guest rooms, and meeting spac — and incorporating design elements that are reflective of the area’s unique cultural heritage.

Most recently serving as the general manager of the Brookshire Suites in Baltimore, Curtis has served in several leadership roles throughout his career. He is a former Maryland Hotelier of the Year recipient and serves as President of Mount Vernon Belvedere Association, a group within the Mount Vernon community dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the neighborhood’s historic charm.

Moore, the hotel’s director of sales, has held a variety of industry sales positions, most recently serving as the senior sales manager at one of the city’s premiere hotels, the Hotel Monaco, a Kimpton Hotel.

Joining the Hotel Indigo Baltimore–Mt. Vernon with a series of front of the house managerial positions, Hamrick most recently served as the food and beverage director at the city’s Peabody Court Hotel.

“With the hiring of this strong executive team of seasoned hospitality professionals, who are also connected and committed to the Mount Vernon community, we are confident that this leadership is the right one to open this highly anticipated hotel,” said Sims. “This exciting renovation, which is transforming the property into one of the most desired hotel brands today, will not only breathe new life into the existing building, but also offer guests and the local community unmatched service and a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel experience.”

Located off W. Franklin Street, in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, the hotel is within walking distance to local attractions of the Inner Harbor area, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, M&T Bank Stadium, as well as the Baltimore Convention Center. The property hosts 1,200 square feet of high quality, flexible function meeting and banquet space, as well as a 24-hour business center.

The Hotel Indigo concept was inspired by the service that boutique hotels provide. In each location, the Hotel Indigo brand offers a guest experience that incorporates the neighborhood story of the community in which it resides, while guaranteeing guests a level of consistency offered by IHG standards.
