BROOKLYN, New York—Dazzler Hotels, an upscale collection of hotels by Argentinean brand Fën Hotels, has opened the new 174-room Dazzler Brooklyn.
Inspired by classic Brooklyn and incorporating a modern design aesthetic, the hotel is located in downtown Brooklyn. Amenities include complimentary continental breakfast daily and free WiFi. The hotel incorporates historic touches of Brooklyn throughout its design and amenities, and will soon offer Eataly products in its minibars.
“Dazzler Brooklyn will welcome guests from every corner of the world to the vibrant Downtown Brooklyn area, with an upscale hotel experience offering an authentic vibe,” said Carlos Gareis, general manager of Dazzler Brooklyn. “This is the first Dazzler brand hotel in New York and we look forward to becoming a part of this vibrant community, especially as local residents enjoy our Beer Garden opening this fall.”
The creative direction and design was led by Brooklyn-based clo-th Interiors with a design scheme echoing its urban locale, mixing Manhattan glamour with industrial Brooklyn influences. “The Brooklyn aesthetic we drew from is a mix of vintage style with the modern aesthetic,” said Szandra Toth, founder of cl-oth Interiors. “Dazzler Brooklyn is closely situated to the crossover between Manhattan and Brooklyn, which provided us with distinct location inspiration and the opportunity to merge the glamour of Manhattan with the industrial feel of Brooklyn.”
The lobby is a juxtaposition of modern and vintage, featuring a poured-in-place raw concrete staircase contrasting the textural glimmer of oiled-wood lobby floors. The lobby space is punctuated with contemporary furnishings creating a selection of living room environments.
The hotel’s elevator cabs feature mural-sized reproductions of an antique historic drawing from a map of the area, as see in the Brooklyn Museum’s catalog. Polished brass accents in both the metal work and the light fixtures create a depth in public spaces and guestrooms.
Brooklyn is about boutique and handcraft, which was the design direction for the 174 guestrooms, including 154 classic rooms, 14 junior suites, and six executive suites featuring an entry foyer, living area, and sofa sleeper. All rooms emphasize elements of hand craftsmanship symbolic of Brooklyn, with stenciled art detailed on custom headboards, simply painted yet functional wood desks, and accent pieces in line with the overall design aesthetic.
Handwoven jute area rugs in each room convey the feeling of being a guest in a private home. The moldings on the walls and ceilings as well as the millwork details further identify with the Brooklyn architecture of the 19th century.
The food and beverage spaces at Dazzler Brooklyn include a ground floor café and espresso bar serving an artisanal breakfast and lunch menu and the second story outdoor beer garden (opening this fall). Additional services include a fitness center, in-room dining, business center, express dry cleaning, and 24/7 parking garage on site.
The hotel features meeting and event space on the lower level, which includes a 3,767-square-foot ballroom and 667-square-foot pre-function area.
