Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C. has begun its two-part, $13 million renovation in pursuit of perfecting the “Art of Sleep.” With attention to art, locality, and a luxury sleep experience, the hotel will unveil its first set of redesigned contemporary-style guest rooms in the its west wing on September 22, 2015, with east wing room renovations finishing in the first quarter of 2016.
Currently underway is the first phase of remodeling the Hotel’s 222 guest rooms, beginning in the west wing. During the renovation, guests can continue to stay without disturbances. The Hotel’s redesign will be led by Deborah Forrest, designer and president of Forrest Perkins. The enhancement will focus primarily on the guest rooms and suites.
Since Four Seasons is a gateway to the historic Georgetown neighborhood and the nation’s Capital, the redesign of the guest areas incorporates subtle stylized motifs that reference Washington’s famous cherry blossoms, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, and the Potomac River. Neutral shades of white, pearl, and taupe mixed with coral, peach, and deep chocolate will connect the design of the corridors, rooms, and suites to the rich browns and neutrals of the lobby designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon.
Rooms will have a simplified look with warm color schemes. The beds will feature wood accents with polished silver metal detailing and cognac-colored, patterned velvet pillows will line the upholstered sectional sofa.
“Designing the guest rooms, suites and corridors for Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC is an honor and a distinct pleasure,” says Forrest. “The elegantly comfortable rooms and suites we designed support the discreet service and refined environment for which Four Seasons hotels are known, all while providing a welcome retreat from the energized environment of the nation’s Capital.”
The guest’s sleep experience will be completely transformed by Four Seasons Signature Sleep. Signature Sleep is crafted so that all rooms are uniquely designed to facilitate a fluid transition between work, unwinding, and sleep. Each room will feature a customizable sleep experience with the Simmons-designed Four Seasons Bed. The beds will include a sleep menu of luxury sleep aid items, including scented pillow oils and calming bath melts, a pillow menu containing choices from memory foam to water-filled pillows, and food and beverage options. Guests can customize their sleep prior to arrival by selecting one of the three bed toppers: Signature, Signature Firm, or Signature Plush. To conclude each evening, tea kettles and select choices of herbal teas will be available.
In addition to these features, the rooms will contain new amenities such as toiletries by Italian luxury goods and product designer Salvatore Ferragamo, a Caffé Umbria coffee maker, and a Four Seasons children’s book for families.
“Art can be subjective, but the Art of Sleep by Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC is all about creating the ultimate sleep experience,” says says David Bernand, general manager. “Guests who visit our Hotel come for a number of reasons, but what remains constant is an absolute necessity for peaceful sleep.”
While the Hotel currently houses more than 1,600 unique pieces of art, it will once more increase its art repertoire and continue to pay special attention to the D.C. art scene. The new key cards will display presidential sketches and quotes crafted by local artist Jeff Curry. Welcome cards will present iconic photographs of the city taken by local photographer Jake McGuire. The hotel will also partner with D.C. art centers to provide guests local art experiences during their stay at the Hotel. In addition, a series of videos will be released to showcase behind-the-scenes footage of the renovation, special aspects of Georgetown, and the hotel’s commitment to sleep.
