Richard Branson Says Space Hotels Possible

Here on earth, we are still eagerly awaiting the debut of Virgin Hotels first property opening, but Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, is already talking about the possibility of expanding into outerspace.

According to this article from the Huffington Post, Branson commented on the possibility of space hotels at the Institute of Directors’ annual conference. The billionaire, who is pioneering space tourism through Virgin Galactic, said he is hoping to transform the way that people live with revolutionary ideas.

“Stephen Hawking wants us to colonise the moon or Mars … that could eventually happen. As could a hotel in space,” Branson said.

Although we doubt Branson has any solid plans for a space hotel at the moment, we wouldn’t put it past him to be the first hotelier to take on the challenge. By the time this idea could become a reality, Branson will already have a fleet of spaceships to transport guests to their destination.
