On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Starwood Capital Group has appointed Hermann W. Elger managing director of Baccarat Hotel New York and chief operating officer of Baccarat Hotels and Resorts. In this role, Hermann will oversee the day-to-day operation of the flagship hotel and play a leadership role in the development of new hotels opened under the Baccarat Hotel brand in the future.

Here’s a look at other notable comings and goings that took place this week:

The newly merged Benchmark Resorts & Hotels and Gemstone Hotels & Resorts have appointed Michele Farkas regional director of human resources. Farkas will be based at The Grove Resort & Spa, opening Jan. 9 near Walt Disney World. She will also oversee Benchmark/Gemstone properties in the Midwest and along the East Coast.

Lorraine Turner has been selected by Premier Hotel Collection to be the first regional executive for the company’s two U.S. properties—Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel and Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel. Turner will additionally act as chief human resources officer for both hotels.

WaterWalk Hotel Apartments has added two members to its team. Patrick Bauer has joined WaterWalk as construction manager. Bauer will be responsible for overseeing the onsite construction process of WaterWalk’s newest location in Denver. Elizabeth Link will join the company as general manager of WaterWalk Hotel Apartments, Wichita. Link most recently served as general manager of SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Oklahoma City.

Kressa Olguin has been appointed marketing manager at Hyatt Regency Austin. In her new role, Olguin will oversee the hotel’s marketing strategies, public relations, internal communications, and collateral material.

Hotel Emma has announced a new appointment to its food and beverage team. Hospitality veteran Adam Spencer has been named assistant restaurant manager and sommelier at Supper. Spencer has more than 12 years of experience in the food and beverage industry and has served in multiple roles such as wine and beverage directior, sommelier, and restaurant manager.

Montage Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Cristina Romero-Peri as director of sales and marketing at Montage Los Cabos, scheduled to open in 2018. Romero-Peri will oversee all sales and marketing efforts for the luxury hotel collection’s first international address, including all group and leisure sales activities.

Robert Schneider has been named regional director revenue management for The Woodlands. Schneider has over three decades of leadership experience and as the regional director, he will be responsible for overall pricing and selling strategy for The Grove, Marenas Beach Resort, and Villas of Grand Cypress.

Quadrum Global announced that it will soon open a pair of its New York City hotels under the company’s new Arlo Hotels brand. Additionally, Quadrum announced that hospitality industry veterans Foiz AhmedJavieEgipciacoMaggie HoustonJason Enany, Heather Berti, Katherine Solomon and Li Tang have joined the company to manage all aspects of Arlo’s operations. Ahmed will join Quadrum’s New York office as president of Arlo Hotels; Egipciaco will serve as managing director of Arlo Hotels; Houston joins Arlo Hotels as general manager; and Enany has been named area director of food. Berti will join Quadrum to lead culture, training, and development and employee relations; Solomon will oversee Quadrum’s revenue management; and Tang will serve as hotel manager of Arlo Hudson Square.
