DOHA, Qatar—Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide announced that it will soon introduce its Westin Hotels and Resorts brand to Qatar. Owned by Ghanem Al Thani Holdings, The Westin Doha Hotel and Spa is scheduled to open in late 2014 and will be located in the city’s central business district.
“I would like to thank Ghanem Al Thani Holdings for putting their trust in Starwood as we debut the Westin brand in Qatar,” said Michael Wale, president, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Europe, Africa, and Middle East. “In recent years, Qatar has increasingly positioned itself as a business, transit, and diplomatic hub on the global tourism map, with a rising number of trade events, exhibitions and upcoming sporting events fueling its growth. The time is right to strengthen our presence in the country with the new Westin Doha Hotel and Spa, further underscoring our commitment to growing in this part of the world.”
The property will offer 365 guestrooms, including 92 executive rooms, five private bungalows, and two presidential suites, all featuring the Westin Heavenly Bed as well as the latest in modern in-room technology. The hotel will also offer five dining venues, including an all-day dining restaurant, a grill, and Thai restaurant as well as a jazz cocktail and sports bar.
The Westin Doha Hotel and Spa will also feature nearly 2,900 square meters of event space, including a ballroom and 10 meeting rooms and a fully-equipped business center. For leisure, guests will have access to a Heavenly Spa by Westin, three pools, as well as a fitness center with cardio and weight-training equipment.
