Gild Hall Finishes Redesign

NEW YORK, N.Y.—Gild Hall, a Thompson Hotel, has completed a redesign of its expansive guestrooms and suites, unveiling a new, tailored environment with eclectic, custom-designed furnishings. Nestled amongst the Financial District’s colonial-era streets, the hotel is a neighborhood gem for leisure and business travelers alike, offering an ideal destination to explore all New York City has to offer.

Designed by Bill Rooney Studio, the 130 guestrooms and suites provide a juxtaposition of an understated, classic style and bold, modern elements. Rooms feature a mix of neutrals, browns, and taupe accents, and a dark-stained trim is found throughout the spaces. Warm gray tones accompany a geometric patterned accent wall adjacent to the bed’s tufted leather headboard and camel accent colors at the wainscoting, while flannel drapery accentuates the room’s height, providing scale to the large windows. Soft leather furniture and accessories, including a bespoke mid-century lounge seat and a tailor-made magazine rack, and a chalk stripe carpet are also new. Guestrooms feature an assortment of abstract photography by artists including New York-based Rajmohan Fotograf, who highlights beautiful subjects in unexpected places, Maryland artist Llewellyn Berry, who specializes in representational imagery, and Venezuela-born Tony Vazquez-Figueroa, whose concentration is in both photography and mixed media.

“Gild Hall’s guest room redesign by Bill Rooney Studio evokes a sense of comfortable luxury in the heart of downtown Manhattan,” says Scott Koster, regional vice president at Commune Hotels & Resorts, Thompson Hotels’ management company. “We are excited for our guests to experience our newly-renovated rooms and sleek, stylish upgrades.”

Gild Hall’s six suites have also been redesigned and enhanced. A mix of mid-century modern furnishings is paired with a color scheme of grays and tans to create a warm, urban environment in the Penthouse. The space has been reconfigured to accommodate meetings and intimate events for up to 15 people and has a fully-stocked bar, dining area with a table for 12, lounge and connecting room. The King Suite houses artwork from American photographer Slim Aarons, while the Thompson Suite includes a full bar, dark leather sofas and custom lounge chairs, in addition to a standing clawfoot tub in the bathroom. Each luxury suite is stocked with bar offerings from W&P Design, a Brooklyn-based boutique company that focuses on innovative concepts and products in the world of food and drink, and guests have access to everything needed to mix hand-crafted cocktails in-room.

All guests can enjoy in-room minibars stocked with gourmet snacks from New York City purveyors and have access to a complimentary 24-hour fitness center, business center, free Wi-Fi, in-room dining, and daily turndown service.

Gild Hall’s lobby library offers an intimate haven from the hustle and bustle of the city, an ideal place to unwind at any time of day. Adjacent to the lobby is Felice Ristorante, whose authentic Tuscan cuisine is complemented by a design of rich wood detailing to create a warm atmosphere. Custom lighting highlights the upper-level wine lounge, La Soffitta, which houses an extensive collection of Italian vintage wines and serves a range of innovative cocktails.
