DoubleTree by Hilton Opens in Historic Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. & MCLEAN, Va.—Hilton Worldwide and DoubleTree by Hilton have announced the opening of the DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront, a five-story, 165-room hotel located in historic downtown Decatur, 14 miles from Huntsville International Airport. Formerly a Garden Plaza hotel, the property closed in November 2014 to complete a $10 million transformation and reopens this month to debut a total redesign of the exterior and lobby, fully-updated guest rooms and suites, all new furniture throughout the hotel, updated and expanded meeting spaces, and a renovated atrium. DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront is owned and managed by Cooper Hotels.

“As the largest and only full-service hotel in Decatur, we look forward to welcoming guests to this beautiful property and delivering the ‘little things’ that create a rewarding travel experience — starting with DoubleTree by Hilton’s iconic warm chocolate chip cookie welcome and continuing throughout all touch points of our guest’s stay,” said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton.

DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront features a contemporary look and feel throughout the property with guest rooms offering all-modern conveniences, including in-room safes and mini refrigerators. Many of the rooms also offer sweeping views of the river. In addition to upscale accommodations, guests will enjoy an array of complimentary amenities, including the newly-updated indoor/outdoor pool and sun deck, 24-hour fitness center, 24-hour business center, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel’s public areas and guest rooms.

DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront also debuts a new dining concept: Twist Grill & Bar, located by the lobby and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant features traditional southern favorites. Room service is also available for guests seeking the convenience of in-room dining, while those looking to start their day with a fresh cup of coffee can stop by the new Starbucks Kiosk open each morning in the hotel’s lobby.

DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront offers the largest meeting and banquet facilities in the city. With 8,901 square feet of meeting space, including nine meeting rooms and a spacious 4,300 square foot ballroom, the property provides an ideal setting for conferences and receptions up to 650 people. For smaller groups, the hotel offers the Meetings Simplified by DoubleTree by Hilton package from $25 per person, which includes the meeting room, basic meeting Wi-Fi, meeting room supplies including a flipchart, markers, an extension and power cord, and all day non-alcoholic beverage service.
