Destination Hotels to Manage La Cantera Resort

SAN ANTONIO, Texas—USAA Real Estate Company announced a change in management in its La Cantera Resort. Effective Dec. 12, the hotel will be known as the La Cantera Hill Country Resort and will be managed by Denver-based Destination Hotels and Resorts.

“This is an exciting time for USAA Real Estate Company and for La Cantera and I’m thrilled that we are adding Destination Hotels and Resorts to our team,” says Len O’Donnell, president and CEO of USAA Real Estate Company. “They operate some of the finest resorts in the United States and have a stellar reputation for creating a superior customer experience and brand culture for both guests and associates.”

Located within the La Cantera 1,645 acre master-planned development, La Cantera Hill Country Resort is comprised of 508 rooms, including 38 casitas. La Cantera Hill Country Resort is an upscale, AAA Four-Diamond resort situated on one of the highest points in San Antonio. In addition to the resort’s 18-hole championship La Cantera Resort Course and the 18-hole Palmer Course, La Cantera offers a full array of destination-oriented amenities designed to appeal to both leisure and group guests.

“We appreciate our 15-year relationship with Westin which began with the development of the resort in 1999,” continued O’Donnell, “but as we set forth to implement improvements to the resort over the next two years, we felt that there was an opportunity to make a change to a manager that would deliver the type of quality and customer service we expect from our properties. Following a thorough selection process, we concluded that Destination is uniquely qualified to help us create the experience we want for our guests and corporate meeting clients.”

“On behalf of Destination Hotels & Resorts, we are thrilled to welcome this Hill Country resort to our growing portfolio,” said Jamie Sabatier, president and chief operating officer of Destination Hotels & Resorts. “We are confident that our extensive repositioning experience in the independent space and our refined management platform will provide the right solutions to deliver exceptional results.”
