Amid Turbulent Year, International Travel Remains Strong

    2016 has been a year filled with some controversial and worrying world news, but the travel sector remains strong. Between January and April of this year, destinations around the world welcomed 18 million more international travelers than the same period in 2015. Despite terrorist threats, Europe experienced 6.1 percent growth in the first quarter, compared to 5.9 percent during the same quarter in 2015. Latin America has seemingly been impacted by the Zika virus, seeing smaller growth than in 2015. However, Central America is experiencing 7.3 percent growth over the same period last year.
