Charlestowne Hotels Becomes Manager of The H Hotel

CHARLESTON, South Carolina—Charlestowne Hotels announced its continued expansion in the Midwest with the management takeover of The H Hotel in Midland, Michigan—its first property in the state and seventh in the region.

The H Hotel is transitioning from a Dolce by Wyndham to an independent property. The 139-room hotel offers several venue spaces, including a ballroom with an adjacent foyer, an outdoor courtyard ceremony space, and smaller indoor options for more intimate affairs. The hotel’s 25,000+ square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space and group catering options have made The H Hotel a site in the Great Lakes Bay Region and throughout Michigan for events, community gatherings, and industry conferences.

“Our team has decades of experience managing lifestyle hotels, and to work with a property that’s transitioning to being independently run is especially exciting for us,” says Kyle Hughey, CEO of Charlestowne Hotels. “The H Hotel is respected for its long-standing commitment to the community, and as part of this transition, we’re working directly alongside ownership to elevate the existing character and charm of this iconic Midland property.”

The H Hotel offers three dining establishments. Café Zinc brings the café culture of Europe to the Heartland. One eighteen has classic U.S. cuisine set amidst mid-century design and a tavern-style feel. Oxygen Lounge is a bar and lounge that serves as a community destination for business travelers. For those cold Midwestern winters, The H Hotel offers Winter Dining Pods that allow for outdoor dining.

“We’re looking forward to collaborating with Charlestowne Hotels on ways to further enhance on-site facilities and guest programming as we seek to create a heightened sense of place for all who walk through our doors,” says Derek Grimaldi, general manager of The H Hotel. “Through this new partnership, we’ll introduce more ways for our visitors to savor Midland’s vibrant arts, culture, and recreational offerings through thoughtful amenities and tailored experiences.”
