Accor has sealed a long-term alliance that will combine its brands with more than 2,000 existing properties run by China Lodging’s Huazhu Hotels, according to this report from Reuters. Huazhu aims to open 350 to 400 new hotels under Accor brands in the next five years in China, the article states. Under the deal, Accor will acquire a 10 percent stake in Huazhu and a seat on its board, while Huazhu will become Accor’s main franchisee in China.
