Thomas Cook Group Launches Digital Hotel Concept

LONDON—As part of its on-going transformation and adding to its successful Sunprime and Sunwing concept holidays, Thomas Cook Group has announced its latest high-tech, high-touch innovation with the new SunConnect Resorts. The concept offers destinations and facilities combined with compelling digital technologies for people who want to stay connected throughout their holidays. More than just free Wi-Fi, each resort will offer Thomas Cook’s family-friendly rooms, teen online gaming areas, dining rooms, and a spacious pool, all available through all-inclusive packages.

SunConnect Resorts promote user-friendly websites, free wireless internet throughout the resort-sites, and the ability to browse and book daily activities through smartphones and tablets. Customers will be supported by a ConnectScout—a web-savvy host who will facilitate digital activities for the whole family such as geocaching or Xbox gaming.

SunConnect will initially launch ten resorts, available for summer 2014 in all markets across the Thomas Cook Group. Resorts will be in destinations across Turkey, Cyprus, Gran Canaria, Majorca, Tunisia, and Croatia.

“Following the extensive survey of leisure travellers we undertook earlier this year, we found there was an increasing need for connected holiday experiences which was not being addressed,” said Harriet Green, CEO of Thomas Cook Group. “Our new SunConnect resorts are a major step forward in offering customers what they want. This isn’t just a rebrand of some of our hotels, it’s about our promise to listen to our customers and provide a high-tech, high-touch experience throughout these new resorts.”
