MCLEAN, Va.—Hilton Worldwide has announced a new GED Assistance benefit that will give thousands of eligible team members the opportunity to earn their high school equivalency diploma.
The GED Assistance program is available to all full-time U.S. team members at owned and managed hotels and corporate offices with six months of service or greater. The new benefit will provide one-on-one advising and test preparation support. It will be free of charge for team members, and will also cover the cost of taking the GED tests.
“Our team members are at the heart of our success and we are committed to ensuring Hilton is a place where they can grow both personally and professionally,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, president & CEO, Hilton Worldwide. “Earning a high school diploma is a major accomplishment in people’s lives, and this new benefit will help many of our team members experience the joy of reaching that milestone and unlocking new career opportunities.”
“We are committed to offering industry-leading benefits to continue to recruit and retain the best talent,” said Matt Schuyler, chief human resources officer, Hilton Worldwide. “We are proud to offer meaningful programs like this that reflect our support for our team members and their ongoing development.”
Hilton is working with the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) on this program. CAEL is a leading national nonprofit whose goal is to provide adults with easier access to education and learning opportunities.
“We are thrilled to be working with Hilton to provide this GED program. We believe that effective advising is key to engaging adult learners and to helping them overcome obstacles in pursuit of their education goals,” said Lynn Schroeder, Vice President of Client Relations, CAEL. “We look forward to supporting Hilton Team Members in their journey to earn their high school equivalency diploma.”
Hilton estimates that the GED Assistance program will benefit approximately 5,000 Team Members in the United States across the company’s owned and managed hotels and corporate offices. This new program is part of a series of Team Member benefit enhancements that Hilton Worldwide is introducing to be an employer of choice and a great place to work.
