MINNEAPOLIS—Country Inns and Suites By Carlson unveiled the first hotel of the brand’s more than 470 locations to feature its newest design. Country Inn and Suites By Carlson, Springfield, Ill., includes the brand’s new exterior architecture, modern interiors, stylish furnishings, and guestrooms and suites that feature spa-like bathrooms.
“We are looking to the future and are making thoughtful changes that will allow us to grow our brand,” said Scott Meyer, senior vice president, midscale brands, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “It’s a natural next step to evolve into a product that appeals to a younger generation. But we will be fiercely maintaining our service culture and amenities that have built our strong, loyal customer base.”
The hotel’s new look and feel combines warmth and comfort with iconic elements for which Country Inns and Suites are known for like the lobby fireplace. The new design will allow the brand to resonate with loyal guests, as well as today’s younger, technology-focused business travelers.
“We could not be more excited to launch the newest generation of our brand in Springfield,” said Meyer. “While the brand has seen consistent upgrades and regular renovation cycles, this is the first time in its 26-year history that it has been completely redesigned to include a new architecture and interior aesthetic.”
The hotel’s unique design features include stone and wood wall accents that accompany a fireplace and soft sofa seating, lounge chair,s and occasional tables. In-room bathrooms offer contemporary materials, deep basins, and plush towels. Statement furnishings like oversized headboards and an eclectic color palette make guestroom decor unique to the upper midscale hotel segment. The Den, located just off the lobby offers a space where guests can relax and enjoy a book from the brand’s signature Read It and Return Lending Library. The Den also includes the hotel’s business center.
The hotel also features a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, as well as an outdoor veranda.
The hotel is owned by Springfield Lodging and was a joint venture between Sand Lodging and the Swift Hospitality Group. Sand Construction of Waite Park, Minn., provided the construction services, architectural services and procurement. Swift Hospitality of Freeport, Ill., provided development services and will manage the hotel.
