Marshall to Manage Three Hotels Currently Under Construction

SALISBURY, Md.—Marshall Hotels & Resorts has been selected to operate three hotels currently under construction. These contracts, coupled with a previously announced Hotel Indigo under construction in Manhattan, bring the company’s year-to-date growth to nine new contracts.

“We’ve been able to source a great number of deals thanks to the experience and long-standing relationships of our individual team members,” said Mike Marshall, president and CEO. “Our track record is very attractive to the developers and ownership groups in these areas because we bring a level of experience and sophistication in hospitality management that sometimes is lacking in smaller, seasonal markets.”

The 74-room Holiday Inn Express in West Ocean City, Md., “will offer a more affordable alternative to Ocean City visitors who don’t want to pay beachfront prices,” Marshall said. “This area has 17 championship golf courses, and with the late 2014 opening of this Holiday Inn Express, golfers will be able to enjoy many hotel amenities like an indoor pool and full breakfast without heading over the bridge and paying to be at the beach.”

Marshall was involved in the flag selection for an 80-room Best Western Plus in Hammondsport, N.Y., a Finger Lakes region hotel being developed by East Lake Holdings LLC. Opening in the spring of 2015, the Best Western Plus Hammondsport will be of particular interest to visitors interested in the local winemaking industry and Hammondsport’s history as the cradle of aviation and birthplace of Charlie Chaplin.

The third property, an 80-room Hampton Inn and Suites, is located in Mount Joy, Pa., in the heart of Lancaster County, Pa. Mount Joy is a designated Main Street Community that attracts visitors year round to enjoy the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside and historic attractions such as Bubes Brewery, a 19th century Bavarian ale house.

“We will provide input for each hotel throughout the construction process and ensure that each is properly marketed so that they ramp up quickly and have a solid book of business,” Marshall said. “Because we operate in every major brand family, we can ensure that each hotel opens with an experienced, well-trained staff that is proficient in the brand’s nuances and systems.”
