LEESBURG, Va.—Lansdowne Resort and Spa, A Destination Hotel announces the opening concepts for Coton and Rye, a quintessential Virginia Tavern, celebrating the land, farm, and Virginian lifestyle both then and now. Coton and Rye will be the first of five new food and beverage concepts to be announced this year as part of Lansdowne Resort and Spa’s culinary revitalization project—the latest initiative to the multi-million-dollar renovation and rebrand, announced earlier this year.
Coton and Rye is designed to be an authentic American tavern with reinvented classic Virginian recipes and locally sourced ingredients from the mid-Atlantic region. In celebration of Virginia’s rich culinary history, Coton and Rye will offer traditional local dishes from the past, recreated to fit the “Lansdowne Lifestyle” of today.
The name “Coton and Rye” derives from the original farm that lived on property back in the 1700s and pays homage to the landscape of Virginia wine country. Throughout the space, Coton and Rye will honor the history of Loudoun County with pre-revolutionary photography and shared stories of the Potomac and its original farm land.
“Cooking local has been a new trend for some time now, but my menus are more than just local, they are historically driven, culturally intriguing and tell an authentic story about the destination,” said Marcus Repp, director of culinary operations at Lansdowne Resort and Spa. “Creating food that personifies the Virginia landscape is the perfect culinary pairing for our resort, combining bold and hearty cuisine with home-grown taste and mid-Atlantic comfort.”
Virginia is rich in history and rooted in southern hospitality, which is prevalent in Coton and Rye’s service culture and community focused initiatives. Scheduled to launch this September, in conjunction with the restaurant opening, Coton and Rye will dedicate Wednesday nights to a community cause in Loudoun County, where one dollar from the sales of house wine and draft beers will be donated to a specific charity or organization. Additionally, Coton and Rye will serve as a contemporary tavern where locals and guests can socialize with each other over NFL Sunday and popular TV shows, or host annual viewing parties for some of the biggest nights in television.
This fall, Lansdowne Resort and Spa’s unique taste of place will be further enhanced with the unveiling of three refreshed food and beverage concepts, including a Loudoun County inspired food hall, an interactive tasting room concept and a Virginia curated grab-and-go market. Lansdowne Resort and Spa’s new food and beverage components will take the resort to new heights—reuniting nature, history, and locally inspired cuisine with heartfelt hospitality.
