Homewood Suites Opens First Property in NYC

NEW YORK and MCLEAN, Va.—Homewood Suites by Hilton announced today the opening of its newest property, Homewood Suites New York/Midtown Manhattan Times Square-South. Located just three blocks from Times Square, the new property is the largest hotel to-date for the brand, its first property in Manhattan, and a key component of Homewood Suites’ overall urban expansion efforts.

“The saying about New York City goes, ‘if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,’ and as we celebrate our 25th anniversary the timing could not be more perfect to make our Big Apple debut,” said Bill Duncan, global head of Homewood Suites. “This hotel showcases the evolution of the brand and the flexibility of the Homewood Suites prototype. It allowed us to work with the developers to design a great property, composed of the right mix of spacious studio, and one-bedroom suites, which still incorporates the comforts guests expect from our brand, while fitting the needs of the area.”

The 22-story, 293-suite Homewood Suites New York/Midtown Manhattan Times Square-South, is owned by West 37th Street Operator LLC, a joint venture between The Buccini/Pollin Group, Albanese Development Corporation, and Rockwood Capital. The hotel is managed by PM Hospitality Strategies Inc. (PMHS).

“This new Homewood Suites re-sets the high water mark for budget-friendly accommodations in Midtown Manhattan,” said Joseph Bojanowski, president, PMHS. “Our suites are considerably larger than the average guestroom in any new hotel in the metro New York area and guests receive a wide range of value-added amenities like a complimentary hot breakfast and in-room WiFi. This neighborhood was ripe for an affordably priced hotel that offered this combination of spacious rooms and money-saving amenities in an extremely desirable Manhattan location. It is a testament to the power of the Homewood Suites brand and the market demand that guests were booking this hotel nine months in advance.”

The Homewood Suites New York/Midtown Manhattan Times Square South is mainly comprised of studio suites, most with a twin sleeper sofa, and its innovative design led to Homewood Suites’ recently launched Gen 9.2 prototype which allows owners to incorporate up to 85 percent studio suites, to meet local market demands, particularly, in urban markets where construction space is limited. This prototype is one way the brand continues to innovate to meet the needs of owners and guests.

Guests at the Homewood Suites New York/Midtown Manhattan Times Square-South can enjoy a seasonal rooftop deck and garden terrace, a boardroom that can accommodate as many as 14 people, and dedicated meeting space, in addition to the amenities standard at all properties such as fully equipped kitchens and a complimentary grocery shopping service. Two floors of the hotel offer its signature Atmosair, allergy-free rooms. The hotel maximizes its appeal to both business and leisure guests by offering a business center, concierge services, an extended fitness center, and a Suite Shop convenience store selling frozen dinners, soups, and other quick meals.

The Homewood Suites New York/Midtown Manhattan Times Square-South is the latest in the brand’s urban expansion efforts. Since 2013, Homewood Suites has opened properties in Dallas, Denver, and Nashville, with upcoming properties planned for downtown Miami and Chicago.
