MOBILE, Ala.—The Admiral Hotel Mobile, a historic, boutique hotel, conveniently located in downtown Mobile, Ala., today joined Curio—A Collection by Hilton. Originally opened in 1940, The Admiral Hotel Mobile, Curio Collection by Hilton, is located within walking distance of the famed Dauphin Street and has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation to the lobby, restaurants, public spaces, and meeting space—in addition to a complete redesign of all guest rooms.
“The hotel’s prime location in the heart of Mobile’s business, entertainment, and cultural districts, provides guests the perfect launching pad to easily immerse themselves in the local culture and flare that is truly unique to the great city of Mobile,” said Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio—A Collection by Hilton. “This historic property has hosted a number of iconic stars over the years, and we can’t wait to roll out the red carpet for all future guests of The Admiral Hotel Mobile.”
When the 12-story Admiral Hotel Mobile originally opened more than 75 years ago, it was home to a cocktail lounge, coffee shop, drug store, and National Airlines Office. Today, guests can relax in one of the 156 guest rooms or one of the five luxurious suites, each completely reimagined with amenities and décor that today’s modern traveler has come to expect. Other highlights of the hotel include an outdoor retreat, complete with a swimming pool and plush lounge chairs, and a 24-hour fitness center with Precor equipment.
The hotel—managed by HP Hotels Management and owned by The Thrash Group—is designed to celebrate its art deco history, with a mix of custom furnishings, modern décor, 1940s era architectural details, exposed bricks walls, and original flooring, all while giving a nod to the local community and its deep, rich history.
“We’re thrilled to add our hotel to the global Curio Collection, and offer guests an upscale historic Hilton Worldwide property in the market,” said Joe Langford, general manager, The Admiral Hotel Mobile. “The redesign of the property will provide our guests with a true first class experience, and positions our hotel as the premier choice for both business and leisure travelers visiting our city.”
The hotel also features two locally infused dining options. Corner 251 is an all-day café & bakery with a new bar, serving locally roasted Serda’s coffee, freshly made pastries, seasonal sandwiches, and regionally inspired small plates. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Launch is an upscale urban farm-to-table restaurant featuring a diverse menu of American classics made with fresh ingredients from local fisheries, growers, and purveyors. Menu highlights include buttermilk fried chicken, Chef Sam’s gumbo, and Launch’s famous red beans.
The Admiral Hotel Mobile offers more than 6,700 square feet of flexible meeting space that can accommodate up to 550 guests. This includes a 3,400-square-foot ballroom with original hardwood floors dating back to 1940 that can be divided into three sections. For smaller events, the hotel offers eight meeting rooms, including versatile boardrooms and private event spaces.
