Construction Begins on Embassy Suites at Hughes Landing

THE WOODLANDS, Texas–The Howard Hughes Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary, The Woodlands Development Company, announced today that it has begun construction on a 205-key Embassy Suites Hotel at Hughes Landing, a 66-acre mixed-use development in The Woodlands.

Located on Lake Woodlands, Hughes Landing is a waterfront destination where people will live, work, and play in a walkable community with a blend of popular retailers, dining, entertainment, multifamily residences, and Class A office space.

“The rapid growth at Hughes Landing has created significant demand for a new hotel in the area to effectively serve the needs of our local business and leisure travelers,” said Paul Layne, executive vice president of master planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “As we cater to a mix of professionals, residents, and visitors, Embassy Suites will be a valuable addition to Hughes Landing, creating the ultimate ‘lifestyle intersection’ in The Woodlands.”

The new 205-room Embassy Suites is an upscale, all-suite, full-service hotel for both business and leisure travelers, slated for completion in late 2015. The 172,000 sq. ft. hotel will feature 3,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space; an Embassy BusinessLink Business Center; a full-service bar and restaurant; and a 4,000 sq. ft. rooftop pool deck that overlooks Lake Woodlands. A 24-hour fitness center will include cardio, balance equipment, and weight-training options.

With more than 215 hotels in the United States, Canada and Latin America, Embassy Suites Hotels offer guests two-room suites with separate bedroom and living areas. A collection of coffee and teas by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which were specially created for Embassy Suites, are featured in each room. Guests will also be able to enjoy the brand’s signature amenities like free “cooked-to-order” breakfast and an evening manager’s reception that offers complimentary snacks and drinks.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding the Embassy Suites brand in Texas with our partners at The Howard Hughes Corporation,” said John Rogers, Global Head of Embassy Suites Hotels. “Our brand’s signature two-room suites, complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails and exceptional ‘Make a Difference’ service culture, combined with the surge of business development in the area, are sure to attract both business and leisure travelers to Hughes Landing.”
