Chesapeake Hospitality Converts Milwaukee River Inn to Holiday Inn

GREENBELT, Md.—Chesapeake Hospitality has completed its first phase of renovations to convert the Milwaukee River Inn, located in Glendale, Wis., into an upgraded Holiday Inn.

Originally built in 1974, the hotel is comprised of one main five-story building featuring the lobby and guest rooms—which has just received a complete exterior makeover—with an additional one-story building attached on the west side of the site containing the hotel’s meeting space and restaurant.

Newly completed upgrades include an expanded lobby, increased wireless Internet capacity and video conferencing capabilities, and the introduction of The River’s Edge Lounge, a bar with riverfront views.

The Holiday Inn flag became official on Dec. 9 when the redesigned deluxe guestrooms on the fourth and fifth floors began taking reservations. The remaining guestrooms will be completed as phase two of the renovations by March 1, along with a complete overhaul of the Anchorage restaurant, upgrades to the meeting space, the installation of a new fitness center, a reconfigured outdoor patio, and a resurfaced parking lot.

“The improvements being made to this property will re-establish this hotel as the premier lodging choice in the marketplace,” said Kim Sims, president of Chesapeake Hospitality. “The River’s Edge Lounge bar and outdoor patio are exciting new elements that we feel will engage not only travelers but local Milwaukee residents as well.”

The 95,600-square-foot Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront is located near Bayshore Town Center, Whitefish Bay, and Johnson Controls and just a 10-minute drive from museums, restaurants, and entertainment options in downtown Milwaukee.
