Thompson Playa del Carmen Unveils Beach House

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico—Thompson Playa del Carmen unveils its intimate, bohemian-inspired Beach House on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in Mexico, set to open on Feb. 16. The luxury lifestyle hotel in Playa del Carmen is now complete with two distinct locations—the 92-room main hotel located on lively La Quinta Avenida, which debuted in November 2015, and now, the exclusive, villa-style Beach House, which is perched directly on the beach just a few blocks away from the main hotel and boasts extraordinary ocean views.

The Beach House exudes a private beach club-feel, offering highly-personalized and intuitive service. Designed by lauded Mexican architecture firms AS Arquitectura and Seijo Peon, along with notable designers Niz + Chauvet, the intimate property’s 27 luxury accommodations (nine guest rooms and 18 suites) each feature a furnished, private balcony and expansive ocean views. The design teams seamlessly fused mid-century décor with custom furnishings and rich Mexican patterns and textures, along with a relaxing palette of turquoise and sand tones to create a 1950s-inspired glamorous Mexican oasis. The guest rooms were designed with locally-sourced materials, such as hand-pressed Guadalajara tiles, stone and white-washed wood panels. The spacious bathrooms feature glass-enclosed rain showers with luxury Kimono bathrobes; select guest rooms also feature Aquaspa bathtubs.

The guest experience begins at the private check-in area of the Beach House. Guestrooms and suites include the Terrace King, which are over 550 square feet, Double Queen, Ocean View Junior Suite, Ocean View Suite, and Panoramic Suite. Steps from the sand, the Panoramic Suite is the property’s largest accommodation at over 1,000 square feet; the suite offers sea views with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides and an Aquaspa bathtub on its private terrace.

The Beach House features a private pool lined with cabanas and an oceanfront lounge, reserved exclusively for Beach House guests. The pool and lounge offer luxurious daybeds, sofas and loungers, ideal for relaxing and soaking in the rays of the Caribbean sun in a tranquil environment. Beach chairs on the sand are offered to all hotel guests, with priority seating offered to those staying at the Beach House. Guests are also able to enjoy the massive infinity pool on the expansive rooftop of the main hotel.

Led by Executive Chef Pedro Abascal, the dining locale offers light, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with Greek influence.

For an ultra-exclusive dining experience, guests are invited to experience Privada House, a social culinary affair hosted by Abascal. The interactive dining event allows guests to see and learn firsthand about the cuisine he and his culinary team prepare, and how.

The Beach House offers exclusive recreational amenities to its guests, including complimentary bicycles, stand-up paddleboards, and special fitness offerings, including beachfront yoga and boot camp. Guests relaxing on the beach are offered frozen fruit skewers and ceviche cups to keep cool, sunglass polishing, and beach board games.
