Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

In June, Wyndham Worldwide completed a major spin-off of its vacation ownership and hotel businesses, creating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Several acquisitions in the past 12 months expanded Wyndham’s footprint dramatically. Now, the company lays claim to nearly 9,000 hotels and 20 brands. After acquiring AmericInn last year, Wyndham kept up the momentum by announcing an agreement with American Hotel Income Properties REIT to convert 44 U.S. hotels. Several months later, the company completed its biggest deals of the year, acquiring La Quinta’s franchising and management business (totaling 900 hotels) and selling its Knights Inn brand (totaling 350 properties) to RLH Corporation for $27 million.
