Canopy by Hilton D.C. Breaks Ground

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Canopy by Hilton, Hilton Worldwide’s new hotel brand, and a joint venture between The Buccini/Pollin Group and Federal Realty has announced that the Canopy by Hilton Washington, D.C. Bethesda North has broken ground. Slated to open in the fall of 2017, the property will provide a comfortable stay for guests in search of local experiences in the D.C. suburb of Bethesda North.

The 177-room hotel, which includes 23 suites and two spectacular, three-bay Presidential suites, is located at 11580 Old Georgetown Road, at the center of Pike & Rose, a new mixed-use development featuring a sophisticated blend of restaurants, retailers, and live performance venues. The pedestrian-friendly area is rapidly becoming a popular urban entertainment destination. Visitors can attend a concert or comedy show at AMP by Strathmore, see a film at iPic – an upscale movie theater which features table service and plush seats -, or enjoy gourmet fare while bowling at Pinstripes.

“Bethesda is an ideal neighborhood for our Canopy by Hilton brand,” said Gary Steffen, global head, Canopy by Hilton. “The community is both a business hub and recreational destination with attractive shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. We’re confident that our hotel will reflect the best of the neighborhood through locally inspired design, and food and drink. Canopy by Hilton Bethesda North will add to the vibrant local scene.”

As with all Canopy by Hilton hotels, Canopy by Hilton Washington, D.C. Bethesda North is inspired and influenced by its local surroundings. The property will be home to a bistro highlighting D.C. favorites like soft shell crabs and half-smokes from iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl. Produce will be sourced from Maryland farms located within 50 miles of the hotel. At the bar, travelers can sip on local beers from innovative breweries including Baying Hound Aleworks in Rockville, Denizens Brewing Company in Silver Spring and Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, as well as D.C. Brau Brewing Company. Guests will be greeted with gluten-free Meringue Rose Cookies from Bethesda’s own Red Bandana Bakery. Also, Wi-Fi and a local artisanal breakfast will be included in the room rate.

With 4,350 square feet of meeting space and a 3,100-square-foot ballroom, Canopy by Hilton Washington, D.C. Bethesda North is an attractive destination for meetings and groups. The flexibility and versatility of the meeting and event space will allow it to be one of the D.C. area’s most innovative venues, a distinctive departure from traditional hotel ballroom spaces.

“With all of the vibrant development in Bethesda North, we’re excited about this partnership with Hilton Worldwide,” said Dave Pollin, co-founder and president of the The Buccini/Pollin Group. “Canopy by Hilton Washington, D.C. Bethesda North joins nearly one million square feet of top tier office space, expertly curated retail, and 1,600 luxury residences supporting the neighborhood’s continued growth as one of D.C.’s most appealing destinations.”

The White Flint station on the Metro’s Red Line, just one block from the hotel, allows for easy access to downtown Bethesda, Rockville, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Both Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) are within 25 miles of the hotel and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is about 36 miles away.
