NAPA, Calif.—As part of The Meritage Resort and Spa’s ongoing efforts to give back to the community, The Meritage has teamed with two local charities to donate items from its hotel rooms that would otherwise end up in landfills and recycling facilities. The Meritage Resort has just completed renovations of the 157 rooms in its main building that opened in 2007 and donated doors, desks, chairs, lamps, flat-screen televisions, bedframes, and sofas to Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity and St. John’s thrift store.
The Meritage Resort upgraded the rooms in its main building with a new, modern design, including new carpeting, bedding, desks, chairs, and tables. In addition to revitalizing the 157 rooms and suites, three were converted into Bella Suites with a studio setup designed for brides and bridal parties with a full-length mirror and steamer, among other amenities. These upgrades come just 18 months after the resort opened its expansion that included 165 new rooms and other enhancements, including Crush Ultra Lounge, Blend Café, and additional meeting/event space. The renovations and upgrades were completed in early March 2014.
“We were looking for ways to help the community and reduce the amount of building supplies going to local landfills,” said Michael Palmer, general manager of The Meritage Resort and Spa. “Working with the Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity chapter and St. John’s to donate items from the 157 rooms we are renovating was a perfect solution for us, the community, and the environment.”
