Surfside Residence Inn Finishes Construction

SURFSIDE, Fla.—Miller Construction Company has completed construction of the upscale, four-story Surfside Residence Inn by Marriott for owner HDP-TLD Partners of Atlanta.

Miller created the 175-suite hotel at 9200 Collins Avenue in the Town of Surfside, Fla., with spacious amenity areas and a three-story parking structure. Located four blocks south of the internationally renowned Bal Harbour Shops and just north of Miami Beach, the hotel is strategically positioned for extended or short-term stays.

Working on the extremely tight site—one of the last vacant properties in Surfside—Miller’s team drew on its wide-ranging hospitality experience to precisely schedule labor and stage materials. Delivery access was carefully controlled to minimize on-site materials, and all aspects of the construction schedule were phased to reduce congestion, according to Miller Vice President Operations Jeff Slade.

“Miller Construction Company partnered with us to bring to life our vision of a new, flagship hotel property with fresh, contemporary design,” said Allen O’Brien, CEO of Hotel Development Partners (HDP). “Their expertise and determination to operate in our best interest made a complex construction process much easier.”

Designed by Revuelta Architecture International of Miami, the hotel features a central, 5,500-square-foot landscaped courtyard arboretum, with open-air, bistro-style seating and a fountain. A rooftop pool with cabanas and a full bar provides 1,800 square feet of versatile dining and meeting terrace space. The project team included JGP Engineering Group of Doral (MEP), De Los Reyes Engineering of Miami (structural), and VSN Engineering of Miami (civil).
