On the Move: This Week’s Comings and Goings

Extended Stay America has named Gerry Lopez its new chief executive officer following the resignation of Jim Donald. Donald will remain a senior adviser through the end of 2015. Lopez, who has been serving as chief executive of AMC Entertainment since 2009, will take the reins on Aug. 24.

Here is a look at more notable job moves that took place this week:

American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP has appointed Ian McAuley executive vice president, asset management, effective Sept. 1. McAuley was co-founder and president of Superior Lodging Corp. and has developed and operated more than 150 Canadian select-service hotels in the past 15 years.

Eric Foley has joined Refinery Hotel as general manager. He most recently worked as assistant general manager at The Row NYC.

Éilan Hotel & Spa in San Antonio, a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, has appointed Doreen Patino director of sales and marketing. She previously held the same position at Marriott Plaza Hotel, also in San Antonio.

Benchmark Hospitality International has named Fiona Lowe director of human resources for Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort. The 30-year industry veteran was most recently director of human resources for the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino.

HVS has promoted McKenna Luke to vice president. She initiated a certification program for HVS associates covering all aspects of the valuation process.

The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort has appointed Domingo Velasco director of sales and marketing. He most recently held the position of director of sales and marketing at NH Collection Eurobuilding in Madrid.

Eventi Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, has named Julian Miller general manager. He previously oversaw daily operations of the front office, facilities, banquets, security, and housekeeping departments.

Laura Tuerck has been named the new spa director at Montage Laguna Beach. She joins the property from Canyon Ranch SpaClub in Las Vegas, where she spearheaded the launch of the SpaClub’s Comprehensive Foot Health Center and Advanced Facial Program.

Jay Marsella has been appointed director of sales and marketing of Marriott Marquis Houston. He has held leadership roles within Marriott for 25 years, most recently working as director of sales and marketing at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa.
