McKibbon Hospitality Developing AC Hotel Asheville Downtown

ASHEVILLE, N.C.—McKibbon Hospitality has announced several updates for the AC Hotel Asheville Downtown project located at the corner of Broadway and College Streets in downtown Asheville, which is expected to open this fall. The project is being developed by John McKibbon, a part-time Asheville resident who has been conducting business in Asheville for 20 years, and chairman and president of Tower Associates, Glenn W. Wilcox Sr., a resident of Asheville for more than 50 years.

With the opening of the AC Hotel Asheville Downtown, McKibbon Hospitality will bring the first AC Hotel to the Carolinas. AC Hotels originated in Spain and began its expansion to the U.S. in 2013, with nine locations open in the U.S. today. The brand is considered to be in the upper-moderate tier and falls between select-service and full-service.

John McKibbon, chairman of McKibbon Hospitality, said, “Our vision for the hotel is centered on incorporating local art and music that celebrates the talented community that has made Asheville such a desirable place to live, work and visit, creating a truly extraordinary hotel for all to enjoy.”

Upon completion, the new development will include a four-story parking deck, a lifestyle hotel with 132 upscale guestrooms, 2,000 square feet of meeting space, an AC Library with free wi-fi, an AC Kitchen, an AC Lounge, a Media Salon, and a unique collection of local art curated by John McKibbon and MicKibbon’s art consultant, Liz Barr.
