Iberostar Hotels to Make U.S. Debut

MADRID, Spain—Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will make its debut in the United States with the opening of two new hotels in New York City and Miami as part of the company’s commitment to expanding its reach to the U.S. market.

Scheduled to open June 15, the new hotel located at 70 Park Avenue will be a 4-star boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan with 205 rooms spread across 16 floors. With its central location, guests will be a short distance from key tourist attractions including Times Square, Grand Central Station, the headquarters of the United Nations, Bryant Park, and the Flatiron District. The hotel’s opening represents another step forward in expanding Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ international presence in major tourist destinations around the world.

“Here at Grupo Iberostar, we are extremely excited to launch a new hotel in New York, one of the most vibrant cities in the world. With its prime location and focus on service, this new hotel is the perfect way to mark our entrance into the U.S. market,” explained José Antonio González, vice chairman and CEO America. “This property will be a valued addition to our portfolio by our current customers and will also allow us to reach a new audience in the U.S. market.”

The new hotel in New York will be set inside an iconic stone and red brick building dating back to 1928, but has undergone a series of renovations in recent years giving the hotel a refreshing and modern twist. The ground floor will feature the hotel’s lobby as well as a variety of cuisine options such as Silverleaf Coffee & Tea and Silverleaf Tavern, a chic baroque-inspired lounge.

Later in the year, the hotel chain will introduce its second hotel on U.S. soil with the opening of Iberostar Berkeley, located in the Art Deco district of South Beach. Opening in December, the Miami property will be located in a renovated 1940’s Art Deco building and will feature 96 boutique rooms.

Both hotels will be the chain’s first two properties in the United States and further reinforce the exceptional offerings available in the urban sector of the company’s portfolio.
