First Latin American Hotel Joins Curio

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina & MCLEAN, Va.—Anselmo Buenos Aires has joined Curio – A Collection by Hilton. Located in Buenos Aires’ historic neighborhood of San Telmo, Anselmo Buenos Aires is set amid Plaza Dorrego Square, one of the oldest public spaces in the city known for its array of cafés, bars, shops, and antique stores.

“Originally built as a stunning mansion in 1906, Anselmo Buenos Aires pays tribute to a community rich in history that dates back to the 18th century, and provides guests with the perfect launching pad for a truly intriguing cultural experience,” said Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio. “As a hotel that honors its proud past while also celebrating modern luxury that today’s savvy traveler has come to expect, we’re honored to welcome this beautiful property to our collection, and as our first hotel in Latin America.”

With its first owner rumored to have been the famous tango musician and composer Anselmo Aieta, the property maintains its original 1900s façade complemented by a modern design that includes spacious rooms and upscale restaurant and bar concepts. Throughout the hotel, guests will also enjoy contemporary décor and art—all infused with the area’s history and local flair. An interior plaza reflects local Argentine culture by giving guests an intimate setting in which to interact and unwind. Additional highlights include communal gathering areas throughout the hotel and a 24-hour fitness center.

The hotel featuers 50 guestrooms, including four corner rooms, one with a balcony, a large suite featuring a private balcony and two colonial rooms offering a view of Dorrego Square, one of them with a french balcony facing the square. Highlights include floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in showers, sleek wooden floors, a mini-bar, and views of the hotel’s inner plaza.

“Our location in the heart of Buenos Aires, underscored by the reassurance that comes with the iconic Hilton name, will truly set us apart from other offerings in the market,” said Carlos Alonso, managing partner, PKF hotelexperts Latin America. “During their stay at Anselmo Buenos Aires, our guests will not only experience the tremendous pride and passion our talented team has for our beloved Argentine culture, but they will also feel inspired to making new discoveries for experiences that are truly unforgettable.”
