Condé Nast Traveler Launches #TravelisLove Campaign

NEW YORK—Condé Nast Traveler released its #TravelisLove campaign against President Trump’s Immigration Ban with a clear message: “Travel opens hearts and minds. Beauty is everywhere. #TravelisLove”. The editorial team at Condé Nast Traveler created seven covers, each featuring one of the seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and northern Africa (Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and Sudan) whose citizens and refugees are affected by the ban.

The motion content piece, showing all the covers in a carousel, was immediately picked up and reposted by @cntraveler’s followers and an overwhelming majority of positive comments triggered a spike in views and engagement on both Instagram and Twitter. The video was also posted to Condé Nast Traveler’s Facebook at 8 p.m. on Jan. 30 but was deleted from the account a few hours later as it was reported as “spam” by several users. The video has been re-posted on Facebook since.

The CNT Editorial Team writes, “In our view travel is about connection, and through connection, transformation. It’s the most intimate, most personal form of global commerce, the exchange of languages, folkways, traditions, and ambitions. We prize that exchange—the embrace of the unfamiliar, the give and take of crossing borders—in all its forms, quotidian to historic. We don’t take it for granted; and we know that, sometimes, it’s a matter of life and death.”
