Aloft South Beach Opens

STAMFORD, Conn.—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide today announced the opening of Aloft South Beach. Located in Miami Beach, Fla., the adaptive re-use Aloft hotel features 235 guestrooms in a scenic lakefront setting. Developed by JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures and managed by Sage Hospitality, Aloft South Beach has transformed the 1960s-era Motel Ankara and includes a new eight-story tower.

“We’re delighted to open this unique, stylish Aloft hotel in South Beach,” said Jason Halpern, principal in JMH Development, who has a track record of restoring historic structures. “Through this project, we were able to breathe new life into a historic South Beach building while simultaneously creating an aesthetically appealing new hotel in an unbeatable location.”

“Aloft South Beach will become a favorite of both travelers and locals,” said Mitchell Hochberg principal of Madden Real Estate Ventures. “The W XYZ bar, the pool overlooking Lake Pancoast, and the outdoor roof deck lounge create a unique fun environment that captures what South Beach is all about.”

Aloft South Beach offers waterfront views and access to Lake Pancoast and the Collins Canal, which wrap around the property. Just one block from Miami Beach, the new Aloft hotel is just minutes from South Beach, the Miami Beach Convention Center, several art galleries, the Bass Museum of Art, and numerous nightclubs, restaurants, and boutiques. Hotel facilities include an outdoor pool, roof deck lounge, 24-hour fitness center, and 2,349 square feet of flexible meeting space ideal for both business meetings and social gatherings. Fast and free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.
