FHG Takes on Management of Drake Oak Brook Hotel

ROSEMONT, Ill.—First Hospitality Group Inc. announced today that it will manage The Drake Oak Brook Hotel in Oak Brook, Ill., the suburban counterpart of Chicago’s famous Drake Hotel. The Drake Oak Brook is currently closed as it undergoes extensive renovations that will preserve the traditional elegance and old world feel of the property, but scheduled to reopen as an independent hotel in fall 2014.

Originally built in 1961 to cater to a sophisticated and upscale clientele, The Drake Oak Brook is currently undergoing a significant revitalization of the exterior, entrance, public space, office space, and guestrooms. Under FHG’s management, the property will host 80 guest rooms and 50 suites for long-term stays, designated as Residences at the Drake.

The renovation also includes 11,300 square feet of meeting space and a 2,000-square-foot outdoor patio overlooking the fountain, along with several ballrooms and meeting rooms that are ideal for events and weddings. The hotel’s close proximity to downtown Chicago, O’Hare Airport and more than five luxury golf resorts will attract quality-seeking guests from both the business and leisure sectors.

“Giving new life to the Drake Oak Brook is a particularly exciting opportunity for our Chicago-based hotel management team,” said First Hospitality Group President and COO Robert Habeeb. “It’s a unique hotel, with so much to offer guests and we are confident our capable experts have the skills and experience necessary to position this property for long term success in this thriving suburban market.”

The Drake Oak Brook joins 20 other Illinois hotels in FHG’s national management portfolio.
