HONOLULU, Hawaii—Currently undergoing a $10 million renovation, Kauai Sands Hotel will be reintroduced this July as Kauai Shores, an Aqua hotel. The reinvigorated property will be part of the Aqua Hotels & Resorts brand and offers a resort-like experience with stylish guest areas and rooms, as well as upgraded services and amenities.
“It’s exciting to breathe new life into a property with such great tradition and charm,” said Elizabeth Churchill, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Kauai Shores will soon offer the style and design to match its phenomenal location on the Royal Coconut Coast.”
Aqua has overseen the $10 million renovation since taking over management of the property in 2012. The renovation project, which is being done by Summa International, includes guestrooms, corridors, common areas, and the restaurant, as well as exterior upgrades to the building and grounds. The new design incorporates elements from the hotel’s original character and combines them with modern updates to create a relaxed, contemporary hotel with lively spaces.
Situated along a secluded beach on Kauai’s windward side, the two-story, low-rise property features 200 rooms, two outdoor pools, and six acres of tropical lawns and gardens. Minutes away are the Ke Ala Hele Makalae Corridor or “The Path That Goes By The Coast,” Wailua Golf Course, Wailua River, Wailua Coconut Marketplace Shopping Center, and the historic town of Kapaa.
