HILTON HEAD, S.C.—Northview Hotel Group (NVHG), based in Westport, Conn., has acquired The Beach House, a Holiday Inn Resort, located on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
The hotel features 202 guestrooms, an oceanfront pool, 4,600 square feet of flexible meeting space, and three food and beverage outlets, including the iconic Tiki Hut. NVHG Management, Northview Hotel Group’s operating arm, will operate the resort and oversee the completion of a strategic renovation project.
The Beach House marks Northview’s third acquisition since mid-2012. In May 2012, Northview acquired the Sanderling Resort & Spa, an oceanfront resort on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and in September 2012, the group acquired the Sheraton hotel in downtown Raleigh, N.C. All three transactions include a significant renovation and strategic re-positioning program implemented by Northview’s construction management and operational teams.
“Hilton Head is a high barrier-to-entry lodging market that demonstrated remarkable resilience through the economic downturn due to its consistent, drive market demand base. As the only mid-scale beachfront hotel in Hilton Head, and with its premier location adjacent to Coligny Plaza and on Coligny Beach, The Beach House holds a truly unique competitive position in the market,” said Matt Trevenen, Northview partner. “The Beach House fits perfectly within our growing portfolio as we continue to seek attractive risk-adjusted investment opportunities and we plan to expand our portfolio aggressively in the next 12 months.”
