CALABASAS, Calif.—With the completion of a $6 million renovation this spring, The Anza – A Calabasas Hotel will open as the first independent boutique property in Calabasas, Calif. The hotel’s extensive renovation will touch every inch of the building’s interior and update the exterior and pool area.
The porte-cochere will feature a new stone surround and new furnishings at the entry doors. The lobby space will be completely transformed; new wood flooring, a large decorative ottoman in the entry, and a decorative screen in the background will be focal points as guests enter. A new front desk will be added with a blue wall behind it. This pop of color will also accent the fireplace. The lobby will feature a living room with several different seating zones to accommodate quiet reading or work, small meetings, dining, and cocktails. Graze Bistro & Bar, The Anza’s food and beverage offering, will serve breakfast and dinner, then transition to a bar in the evening with craft beers and California wines available. Additional hotel amenities include a new business center, fitness room and a marketplace for snacks and sundries.
The guestrooms, averaging 400 square feet or more in size, will be completely renovated. Designed around a palette of gold and browns with blue accents, the bedroom design will incorporate elements to create a residential feel. A foyer area, featuring a tile floor, includes a coffee bar with microwave and refrigerator. The tile flooring carries into the bathroom which features a walk-in shower with rain shower head, new vanity, and backlit vanity mirror. A wide selection of textures and subtle patterns play off each other and add richness to the design.
The pool area will be upgraded with the addition of new cabanas, fire pit, furniture, and a trellis to provide shade and privacy. New lighting and plumbing throughout the property is designed to be energy efficient and meet the functional needs of today’s hotel guest.
The Anza – A Calabasas Hotel, previously operated as a Country Inn & Suites, was purchased by Channel West Group and Arris Investments LLC in July of 2012. Evolution Hospitality of Newport Beach, CA is the operator and senior principals of Evolution have also made an equity investment in the hotel.
