Hospitality Employees See Dollar Signs

    Good news for those working in hospitality: Wages are moving on up. According to the ADP Workforce Vitality Report, the labor market continued to improve for almost all industries in the first quarter of 2016. In particular, the leisure and hospitality segment is thriving, with strong wage acceleration of 5.7 percent in the first quarter of 2016, even higher than its 4.2 increase in the fourth quarter of 2015. The study notes that raised minimum wages in some states could account for the growth. The report also examined the impact on wages when switching jobs. In hospitality, employees who switched to another full-time job received a wage boost of more than 10 percent–the highest of all industries studied, including transporation, health services, and real estate. If a hospitality employee switched from a part-time to full-time job, they experienced an 8.9 percent wage increase–also higher than what workers in other industries found. To read more, click here.
