LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz.—Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, a full-service hotel management company, announced it has assumed management of Nautical Beachfront Resort in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and that Steven Boswell was appointed general manager. This 139-room resort, Arizona’s only beachfront hotel, is owned by Phoenix-based RW Partners.
“Nautical Beachfront Resort was instrumental in the development of Lake Havasu and it continues to be the resort of choice for visitors to the area,” said Jeff McIntyre, Gemstone principal. “Recent room renovations and the addition of the state’s largest infinity pool have greatly enhanced its position in the market and Steven’s outstanding track record with resorts such as the Port Royal Resort in Corpus Christi, Ocean Key Resort and Spa in Key West and the Willows Lodge & Spa in Wash. make him the perfect candidate to lead this resort.”
The resort features include an 18-hole golf course, outdoor water park, an infinity pool, and waterfront dining at the Turtle Beach Bar or Turtle Grill. A 5,600-square-foot conference center can accommodate up to 500 guests for small conventions, meetings, fundraisers, and social occasions.
The history of Nautical Beachfront Resort is tied to the history of the city itself, as it was built to accommodate visitors brought in by founder Robert McCullough as he was developing the planned community that is today’s Lake Havasu City. The original Nautical Inn opened in 1964 with only 16 rooms, a cocktail lounge, and a 180-seat dining room with a view of Thompson Bay. The Bay Rooms and Cove Suites were added in 1969.
“Nautical Beachfront Resort is the second addition to our portfolio so far this year,” McIntyre said. “Southern California is a tremendous feeder market for Lake Havasu and our Los Angeles hotels will provide opportunities for synergy and co-marketing of this one-of-a-kind resort.”
