Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts executive vice president and managing director, Asia-Pacific, announced the appointment of Frederic Chretien as general manager of the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa, effective October 1. The property, which is currently undergoing an extensive renovation, is scheduled to open in December 2013.
Chretien, a French and Mauritian national with 30 years’ experience in hotel and food and beverage operations, will report to William Visser, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts vice president of operations, Asia-Pacific.
Before joining Outrigger, Chretien was general manager of The Residence, Mauritius, for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with the InterContinental Hotel Group in France and five years with Sun International in the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean.
Chretien, who speaks French, English, German and Italian, is a graduate of the Paris Hotel School with a degree in hotel management.
Edmonstone said: “Frederic brings extensive experience of top-end hotel management in Mauritius to Outrigger. His leadership skills, local knowledge and food and beverage expertise will be a great asset to Outrigger as we establish our new property as one of the most desirable destination resorts in the Indian Ocean.”
